Ed’s Fish and Pizza House was founded in 1972 by Edward Morris Jr. at the age of 16, with the backing of his father Edward Morris Sr. The famous whiting fish fillet sandwich and pizza quickly gained popularity and was loved and longed for by the local university students and faculty from Tennessee State, Fisk University, Meharry Medical College, American Baptist College, Vanderbilt University as well as the surrounding Nashville community. Edward Morris Jr., the original Ed’s Fish who currently operates the Ed’s Fish food truck in Antioch, TN., joined forces with his cousins Anthony and Pamela Drumwright in 1993. Anthony and Pamela Drumwright became the owners of the D.B. Todd Jr Blvd. location. Anthony and Pamela Drumwright later swapped the pizza for a new product— a hot catfish sandwich. The Drumwrights continued the Ed’s Fish legacy for 28 years, retiring in January of 2021. Anthony and Pamela Drumwright passed the torch to their grandsons making Ed’s Fish a three-generation black-owned business.
